Nokia e71
By Odzyskiwanie Danych of DataLab
So recently I've finally got around to purchasing Nokia E71. Let's go over couple most important points. Battery: I can go around 5-7 days without recharging it (which is A LOT compared to say iphone which usually lasts 1-2 days). Of course this time gets a lot shorter once I start using gps but well, that was to be expected. I don't use it outside the car anyway and I can hook it up to portable charger while driving. I feel that the battery life is so great especially thanks to one feature – right above the scree Nokia installed a light sensor. This way the phone is lit up only as much as it's needed – if it's dark around you it'll be at around 20% while in the middle of the sunny day it can easily go up to say 80-90%. And I know for a fact that a backlight takes a lot from battery life – in my previous phone, SE k800i, reducing the backlight from 100% to 50% resulted in battery life going up from 2 to 6 days. GPS: the software that comes with the phone is not only mediocre but also it's only a demo version which means that yes, you're paying a lot for a phone with gps but if you want to use it effectively you need to purchase some kind of software. I don't understand why they did it but whatever – I installed Garmin (yay symbian!) and I'm extremely glad with my choice. The software is very intuitive and I usually have no problems with locating satellites. The only drawback is that to zoom in and out you need to use * and # and on qwerty keyboard those are not standard keys – you need to hold Shift+1 or 3 to use the zoom function and it's kinda uncomfortable while driving. Details: the phone looks amazing. It's slim and slick. The metal battery cover looks great (it has some kind of dotted engraving which ensures that the phone won't slip out of your hand). My friend actually said that he'd be affraid to carry it around in his pocket. And while it may seem like a delicate piece of electronics it's actually pretty durable – I've been using and abusing it as much as every other phone and there's no visible signs of it. All in all the phone is a great replacement for an iPhone. It has qwerty keyboard which, while small, is a lot more comfortable, the gps functionality is superior and you can't even start comparing battery lives. One of the best smartphones I've ever owned/used. |
